WHO WE ARE?
Respiratory Medicine & Sleep Diagnostic Unit is a unit under Department of Internal Medicine in UiTM Medical Specialist Centre Sungai Buloh.
WHAT SERVICES DO WE PROVIDE?
We deal with diseases of the lungs, respiratory tract as well as sleep-related breathing disorders. Our core service includes comprehensive care for both inpatients and outpatients with pulmonary problems. Currently, we run weekly Respiratory Specialist Clinic and handles referrals from other medical disciplines.
WHAT ARE OUR SPECIALTY?
Our consultants and specialists are experts in a wider spectrum of respiratory disease and long-term breathing difficulties, including but not limited to:
Asthma
Allergy
Bronchitis
COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
ILD (Interstitial Lung Disease)
Lung cancer
Lung fibrosis
Pneumonia
Respiratory failure needing domiciliary ventilatory support
Sleep disorders
Tuberculosis
WHAT TESTS & PROCEDURES ARE AVAILABLE IN OUR CENTRE?
Respiratory Diagnostic Tests – Pulmonary Function Testings i.e. spirometry, bronchodilator response, body plethysmography, nitrogen washout, lung diffusion capacity; Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test (CPET).
Sleep Screening or Sleep Studies – type I & II polysomnography (full PSG), type III (partial PSG), type IV (overnight oxygen monitoring), split night study, PAP titration and trial, multiple sleep latency test (MSLT) and maintenance of wakefulness test (MWT).
Interventional Pulmonology Procedures – bronchovideoscopy, pleurovideoscopy, endobronchial ultrasonography (EBUS), transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA), argon plasma coagulation (APC).
HOW TO GET TREATMENT HERE?
We accept referrals from other hospitals, medical centres as well as government or private clinics in the country. Please bring a referral letter from your treating physician and get an appointment from our clinic or you may walk-in to Primary Care Clinic (outpatient clinic) in UiTM Sungai Buloh or UiTM Selayang for an early screening.
